DLC Handbook Ideas, Opinions, and More.

The handbook committee needs your input before reporting to Mike and Shirley. Please read each item carefully and respond by Friday morning, October 19th. It will only take a few minutes of your time and will be extremely helpful. If you do not have an opinion or the problem does not apply to you, please leave blank.

Name (optional):

  1. One of the items that has come up for discussion as an addition to the handbook is unexcused absences. Do you feel this is a problem in your classes? How do you address this problem? If you do not address it, how do you think the problem should be handled? The policy is no good if there is not some means of true enforcement of the issue. If you have any other comments about this particular item, please share them.

  1. Dress code tends to be a problem in some classes. Have you noticed this problem in your classes? How do you handle the situation? Should this be mentioned in the handbook? Again, policies must have a means of enforcement. Please elaborate on your thoughts.

  1. Sexual harrassment in the classroom or affecting the classroom needs to be addressed. What are your thoughts on this policy as an addition to the handbook and what are your ideas to enforce it?

  1. Discipline policy wording and enforcement needs to be addressed. The whole verbal, written-verbal, and written phrasing is confusing at times. We need a more precise manner of discipline. Some people have mentioned: DLC pink slips, D-hall, Saturday school, etc. Please give us your thoughts on this matter.

  1. Discuss any other items you feel need to be added to handbook.

  1. Discuss any items you feel should be deleted from or condensed in the handbook. Are there items that should be solely enforced as classroom management issues by individual instructors?
