Personal Views on Immigration
We will be discussing the effect of the U.S. Immigration policy on today's economy. First, however, take a moment to consider the following questions. There are no right or wrong answers - these questions are designed to make you think about where you currently stand on the issues. Later, you will be asked if any of your beliefs were changed after looking more closely at the issues surrounding this controversial and very American dilemma.

- Do you believe the United States should allow anyone to enter its borders to live and work here just because that person wants to? Or do you believe access to the United States be limited? Explain your answer.*
- How do you believe undocumented immigrants fit into the economy of the United States as a whole? What are the positives and negatives?*
- What areas of the U.S. economy would face the most difficulty if all undocumented immigration were halted? (For example, food service, agriculture, etc.) What are your personal observations that you feel support this?*
- The United States recently increased the number of documented immigrant workers it allows to enter the country. Why do you think this change has made almost no difference in stopping undocumented workers immigrating into the United States?*
- What are some solutions that you can think of to help the situation of undocumented immigration into the United States? Should the current rules be changed? If so, how would you change them? Should there be new requirements to apply for U.S. citizenship?
Develop a short plan outlining rules and requirements that you feel should be followed to apply for and establish legal immigration into the United States.*
