You may play the practice game as often as you like that week and I will record the highest grade you earn on Friday. Homework sheets will be due at the beginning of class on Friday as well.     GATE challenges me. It is just right.

  1. This year turning signed papers in on time and completing homework and other assignments on time will become part of our discipline process. If papers or work is not turned in on time, a note will be written in your agenda and your homeroom teacher will be notified to take the appropriate action according to your classroom discipline plan. This will also affect if you are allowed to go on the class field trip. In other words, if you don't turn in your signed papers weekly and/or complete your assignments on time, you may not be allowed to join the class on the field trip this time. This also refers to discipline referrals. If you misbehave frequently in class, you may not be allowed to go on the field trip. What are your thoughts on this?*
    I think it is fair. If you don't follow the rules, you choose the consequences.
    I disagree. I feel the field trip should be separate.


  1. How do you feel about Socratic Seminar?*
    I don't know what a Socratic Seminar is.
    I love the Socratic Seminar and hope to do many this year.
    I thought the Socratic Seminar was hard, but I am willing to do it some.
    I hate the Socratic Seminar. I don't like talking in front of the group. I want the option to complete an alternative (or different) assignment.

    I like the science and social studies.
    I would prefer math.
    I would prefer English Language Arts (ELA).
    I don't have a preference.


  1. What about the BETA Club? Students who have a 90% average in each class for the second half of 4th grade, the first half of 5th grade, the second half of 5th grade, or the first half of 6th grade are eligible to be invited to join the BETA Club. The BETA Club is an academic honor service organization. It is an honor and a privilege to be a member of this club. Students can also compete for special scholarships in high school (who are in the BETA Club). What are your thoughts?*

    I prefer to take notes from the PowerPoint presentation.
    I prefer to write my own notes from the book and then discuss them in class.
    I prefer you to hand me my notes so I can study them. (Note that this could not be an option for all notes due to the cost of copies and the amount of paper that would be needed.)

    I like reading along with the tape in class when we can.
    I like for the teacher to read the material to me.
    I like taking turns reading the material out loud in class.
    I like reading to myself.

    I prefer doing my seat work alone.

    I prefer watching the movie first so I will have an idea of what we will be learning about.
    I prefer watching the movie in the middle of the unit because I know a little about the subject and can understand what is happening in the movie better.
    I prefer to watch the movie at the end of the unit to help review the material we covered in the unit.
    I don't like watching movies in class. To me they are a waste of time and don't help me learn.
