Guest Speakers, CSGs, and eMentors/Mentorship for Winter
Dear all, In order to plan the year, I need an inventory on what you would like to see happen in the AVID classroom. You will not be able to go back to the room until EVERYONE IS DONE WITH THE SURVEY. If you finish before others, please pull out other homework and keep busy!
- JUNIORS ONLY: During the winter trimester, you will be paired up with an eMentor and converse on several different topics throughout an 8 week period. You decide which topics you would like to see covered during this process. (Refer to the yellow sheet for fuller descriptions). CHOOSE YOUR TOP FOUR CHOICES.
- SENIORS ONLY: During the winter trimester, you will not report to the AVID class. You will be given a release hour to attend to a 2-5 hour a week commitment with a mentor in your desired career field. Please tell me at least 3 choices for a mentor (name fields you wish to be placed in). Remember that psychology, law, or medical fields often times have privacy laws so sometimes it's difficult (but not impossible).
- JUNIORS AND SENIORS: We will have guest speakers again this year. Please check any/all areas you would be interested in hearing. *
- Please tell me any/all other topics you would be interested in hearing about this year.
- During this Trimester, I will be bringing in employers from the AV, Burnsville, Eagan, and Farmington areas to do mock interviews. If you are interested in getting a job at one of the businesses, this can act as an actual interview as well.
Which type of business would be most interested in working at?*
- If there is a SPECIFIC business you wish to be interviewed by (in the hopes of getting a job there), please list that business here and when you would be interested in starting.
OR if there is another category of employment I may have missed, let me know.
- Currently, the process for CSGs is that you are to come prepared with 2 Level 2/3 questions. Would you like this to remain the same, or would you like to propose an alternative (regardless, students will be required to bring SOMETHING that illustrates preparedness).*
- In the past, students have written down notes during CSGs. What kind of written work do you suggest students need to submit at the end of a CSG? (A summary? Notesheet? Other?)*
- In the past, CSGs have been student-lead with all subject areas being focused on during the CSG. Do you want this to remain the same or would you like to propose an alternative?*
- Do you have any other suggestions for CSGs this tri? Keep in mind, these are not set in stone. If we decide we can do a more practical process, we will look at that as the year rolls on. *
- How would you like CSG groups to be arranged? *
- Is there anything else you'd like me to know? Any other suggestions for the class?
- How are you feeling about the class curriculum for this year? *
