- Legislative Services
The Virginia PTA is active in advocating for all children by supporting legislation on the state and national level that is aligned with the mission of the PTA. The Legislative Committee coordinates the development of the Virginia PTA Legislation Program; provides the latest information on pending legislation dealing with issues of concern; and directs advocacy efforts to pass or defeat legislation as directed by the Legislation Program. The Legislative Program is developed and approved by local units and convention resolutions. Are you aware that the Virginia PTA hosts an event called "PTA Day at the General Assembly" which provides parents, families, and students the opportunity to get involved in the legislative process?

- The State PTA Convention and Leadership Training Conference
Each year, the state PTA hosts a convention with issues-oriented workshops and opportunities for PTA members to network and share ideas and conduct the business meeting of the VA PTA. Leadership training is also sponsored during the summer for new leaders from the local PTA units. Have you attended the Virginia PTA Convention?

- Communication
The Virginia PTA maintains lines of communication with the local units through access to full time office staff via email or telephone. Local units are also provided information and updates through the President's mailings, a website, a bi-monthly eNewsletter (Voice), and a full print Bulletin mailed/emailed to units twice each year.
