The petition will be sent to your congressman and presented to presidential candidates in the run up to the Iowa caucuses.
Green Megatrends was researched over 4 years by the National Environmental Hall of Fame and National Sustainability Association.

Please submit petition below to indicate you agree with the 12 trends to help planet earth:
1a. It's more than Climate Change - b) It's also about Reducing Pollution and Improving Health, c) Improving USA Security by not being dependent on imported oil, d) Improving USA economy by investing in USA instead of $500 Billion yearly going overseas for imported oil (more if we go above $150/barrel again), e) Creating USA jobs through advanced Renewable Energy Manufacturing (or falling behind China and Europe), f) and Preserving the Planet's Resources.
2. Adopt simple State and USA Renewable Energy Standards that allow Feed-in-Tariffs (which permit individuals to sell their Renewable Energy to Utilities). This could increase USA Energy by 10%-20%.
3. Increase Home and Building Energy Efficiency. This could help lead to 50% in energy savings (and overlaps with Trend #3).
4. Give awards to Students and their Parents to help make their Schools and Homes more Sustainable. This would generate the support of students and their families and could help lead to 10%-20% in energy savings.
5. Honor Businesses for Adopting Sustainable Practices. This would generate the support of businesses and could help lead to 10% in energy needs. This overlaps with Trends #3 and #4.
6. Allow Solar and Wind Energy on or near Homes and Buildings to be leased or financed like (or be part of) a 30 year mortgage in all USA States. This would generate the support of homeowners and help produce 10%-20% of our energy needs. Overlaps with Trend #2.
7. Foster Sustainable Transportation to ween us off imported oil and and invest $500 Billion a year in the USA instead of overseas. a) Allow all hybrid cars to be converted to plug-in electric cars, b) Mandate that auto companies spend $100 in all new cars to operate with flex fuels with sustainable biofuels like already availabe in 22,000,000 cars in the USA, Brazil and Europe (the Model T had this option from 1908-1927). Allow all cars to be converted to flex fuel. c) Consider Convertable Natural Gas (CNG) for all big rigs (as in the Pickens Plan). This will also help produce 10%-20% of our energy needs This overlaps with Trend #9.
8. Inspire Cities to create a Community Renewable Energy Farm. This would generate the support of communities could help produce 10%-20% of USA Energy. This overlaps with Trend #2.
9. Inspire Cities to Adopt the Kyoto Protocols (7% reduction in Carbon Emissions), found in the USA Mayors Climate Protection Agreement. This would generate the support of communities could help save at least 10% of our energy needs. This overlaps with all Trends.
10. Allow tax deductions and incentives to invest in sustainable biofuels program (with Algae for Fuel and Cellulosic Ethyl Alcohol) for use in flex fuel cars to ween us off imported oil. This will help produce 10%-20% of our energy needs and invest $500 Billion a year in the USA instead of overseas.
11. Sustainable Food - Support Local and Organic Food to save Transportation costs, Improve health, USA and Family security.
12. Sustainable USA Economy. Reduce USA debt with 10% across the board cuts. As an incentive, allow an additional 1% to go as a bonus to groups in USA departments who cut their debt by 10%. Train top leaders in all government departments in Lean Six Sigma, now used successfully by the Armed Forces, to make up to 20% more further reductions in the next three years. Reducing waste, renegotiation with vendors and belt tightening could easily reduce debt by 10%. Our $14 trillion debt is unsustainable and is now equal to our GDP. Unless we bring down debt there will be no funds available for a renewable energy economy. *
