Please review each strand and select the activity you feel is most important for action this year.



  1. Strand One -Teacher Support
    Increase the effective use of technology in the science classroom through an increase in the number participants in technology-based training sessions.
    Increase of teacher retention through the implementation of a mentoring, acknowledgement, and data-sharing program for all teachers of science.
    Increase the amount of science taught at the elementary level by enhancing the content comfort level of those teachers as evidenced by an overall increase in participation in NJSTA activities.
    Institute “share-athon” sessions of best practices at the NJSC (organized by the content liaisons)


  1. Strand Two: Public Relationshiops/Partnerships
    Increase the public’s support of science education by contributing to its understanding of the value of science knowledge and processes.
    Become recognized as the voice of New Jersey science education
    Increase the engagement of all teahcers ofr science, including underserved groups.
    Have the industrial liaison committee tap into company public relations people to ask for PR help in each county (Would companies sponsor 30-sec spots?)
    Establish a listserv similar to the building a presence listserv

  1. Strand Three: Advocacy
    Be more vocal at state level on decisions made by DOE and state board of education.
    Establish working relationships between NJSTA, schools, administrators serve as an advocate for science education.
    Advocate for elementary science having some time set aside during the week.
    Turnkey training using year 3 session presenters as trainers (Possible funding for years 2 and 4 from Maitland?)
    Assist in supporting both formal and nonformal educators of science by advocationg strategies for assist in the identification of valid science in media. (NCSE goal)
