science award survey

Please select 2 students to receive the science award. We will have a tie breaker at our meeting if needed. I have included the number of nominations along any comments emailed to me during nominations - not everyone included these, though.

PICK 2
Justin Bard (2 nominations) - Honors Chemistry- Very good student, I believe he took many advanced courses. He also is very respectful and hardworking
Ryan Cropp – Andy - Ryan Cropp also has had both AP Physics courses. His ability is outstanding. He took it on himself to do all of the extra studying necessary to take the SAT II in physics. Ryan is also an active member of the physics club. He is the most polite and mature of my students.
Ankur Gramopadhye (2 nominations) Ankur has taken Honors Physics, AP Physics Newtonian Mechanics, and is currently taking AP Physics Electricity and Magnetism. I am again fairly certain that he has also taken AP Chemistry and AP Biology. Ankur was a very strong worker in AP Newtonian Mechanics with strong math and reasoning skills. He was always asking good questions with the goal of gaining a deeper understanding of the material. Ankur consistently scored among the top of the class. Additionally, Ankur was always very respectful. (Another rec) Had him in honors and AP chem. Top student in both classes. Made it to the national chemistry Olympiad test last year.
Divya Hosangadi
Ekansh Kumar
Christina Jardak
Brian Mitchell (2 nominations)- Concept Chem Student- He did an excellent job in class and completely turned himself around (from failing to A’s). He is also very interested in Science and Math
Devon Broglie (2 nominations) Had her in honors and AP chem. Really interested in science..going into neuroscience.
Brianne Wiemann
Ari Hakkarainen (2 nominations) I want to give Ari Hakkarainen my absolute highest recommendation. Ari has taken both AP physics classes and excelled in both. What really sets Ari apart is his excitement for science outside of the classroom. Last year as a junior he took it on himself to calculate the landing spot of a tennis ball shot from our cannon from the roof of the school -- including air resistance. This is not easy at all but he stuck with it and was accurate in his prediction. Ari is the leader of the physics club. He is the driving force for interesting projects such as recreating the mythbusters test of the bullet drop and currently he is working on launching a camera in to space. Ari is genuinely excited about science and very talented in it as well. (another rec) I second Andy’s comments. Ari has shown a true intrinsic motivation to learn more about science –while he is very successful he cares more about exploring and learning new topics then his actual grades. He is kind, works well with others and shows the utmost respect for the faculty.
OTHER - Did I forget someone? If so email me again and I can add them on the list...
