    The Body of Christopher Creed by Carol Plum-Ucci - Summary: A suspenseful novel, set in the middle of New Jersey. Plum-Ucci's writing focuses on a group of friends who start an investigation into the disappearance of their school's biggest outcast.  
    I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings by Maya Angelou - Summary: Maya Angelou's memoir chronicles her childhood to adulthood, and follows Angelou cross-country in the United States as she learns to accept herself in a very hostile period in American history.  
    The House on Mango Street by Sandra Cisneros - Summary: Cisneros' female protagonist, Esperanza, struggles to accept her life on Mango Street and the implications attached with her location. Along with learning about life in her experiences, Esperanza also uncovers an inner strength that resonates with any reader.
