2012-2013 BICS Calendar & Professional Development/School Improvement Survey
BICS has been looking at two options for next year’s calendar and two options for next year's Professional Development and School Improvement needs. Please choose ONE option for each question. Thank you for taking the time to complete this survery.
A couple of things to note in making your decision regarding the calendar:
***The following activities are already scheduled and cannot be changed.
Soccer Camp: August 13th – 17th
Soccer Game: September 7th
Soccer Practice will likely start on August 27th.
Volleyball Camp: August 20th – 22nd
Volleyball Game: August 24th
Volleyball Practice will likely start on August 8th.
All athletes will be required to be at school, daily, for practices from August 8th (volleyball)/August 27(soccer), to prepare for the upcoming matches, REGARDLESS if school is in session or not.

- Option #1: Students begin on WEDNESDAY, September 5th. This gives everyone ONE extra day off before school begins. With this option, school would be out on June 7th.
Option #2: Students would begin on MONDAY, September 10th. This would give everyone FOUR extra days off before school begins. With this option, school would be out on June 12th.

- Professional Development and School Improvement are necessary and, in fact, required, components to our school program. Please select which option you would prefer to see in next year’s schedule. During Professional Development/School Improvement time, teachers work on issues such as: Implementation of the Common Core State Standards, New Testing practices, Differentiation, etc. and/or planning for upcoming special events such as: Beaver Island History Adventure, Career Day, Track & Field, etc.
Option #1: Early Release Mondays. All students are dismissed at 2:15 on Monday (same as this year). Staff will work on Professional Development and School Improvement needs until 4:30 two Mondays a month and until 3:15 on the other two Mondays.
Option #2:
Students are released at 3:15 each day. One Monday each month, all students will start at lunchtime rather than 8:15am. Teachers will report at 8:15 and use the morning for Professional Development and School Improvement needs. Teachers will still stay and work until 4:30 two Mondays/month.
