- How to decrease the heats generated by the electronic devices and their need of power supply while the device can still deliver the equivalent quality of service?/ If the structure of the circuits used to build the electronic device is to be changed so that the transistors are closer together, the requirement of power supply will be lessened which leads to less heats generated because electrical signal can be transfered through the transistors more easily with lower amount of power supply

- Could Maglev Tech and current transportation methods coexist? What is the feasibility of incorporating Maglev Tech into existing roads / railroads, and even sidewalks?
|
- What kinds of metals and what amounts of those metals can sunflowers absorb from soil?"The independant variable is the types of metals used, the dependant variable is the amount of metal left in the soil, and controlled variables would be the sunflowers, the soil, measuring devices. We would start by measuring the soil and finding out if there are any metals to begin with in it. Then we would add a specific, controlled amount of metal to the soil and plant the sunflower in the soil. After a certain amount of time, say 72 hours, we will measure the amount of metal left in the soil. We will do this with all the types of metals and find out how much sunflowers effect the amount of metal in the soil.
|
- Do sunflowers have the ability to absorb dangerous metals from soil? We wanted to test this because we heard that sunflowers absorb radiation, and thought that to be interesting. We originally wanted to test the ability of sunflowers to absorb radiation from soil, but realized that it would be difficult to get the permission to use radioactive material. After some research, I found that sunflowers have also been shown to absorb dangerous metals. This way, we wouldn't need to be concerned with the major safety risks that come along with dealing with radiation.

- What is the best method for generating electric energy for an electric bicycle? I want to research this because i want to create a form of transportation that runs on clean, sustainable energy. "Independent variable: method used to charge battery.
Dependent variable: Time it takes to charge the battery
Controlled variables: manufacture of each material, person who is riding the bike, location where bike is parked during school.
1) Ride the E-Bike to school. Record the percentage of the battery that drained during the ride.
2) If applicable, turn on charging device once the rider arrives on campus.
3) After school, record the battery percentage and figure out how much percent had charged during the school day and turn off charging method. Divide percentage by the elapsed time that the bike was drink. Record that as percentage per hour
4) Ride home and do homework.
5) Repeat steps one through four for one week.
6) Over the weekend, change out the charging device. The order would be built-in battery, solar panel, and windmill.
7) Repeat steps one through seven until each method has been tested.
8) Over the weekend, change the charging apparatus to a motor that is connected to the peddles that will transfer the kinetic energy generated by the peddles into potential energy stored in the battery.
9) Before leaving for school, record the battery percentage of the bike. Ride to school. Record time it takes to arrive on campus.
10 Once campus, record the percentage that was charged during the ride.
11) Divide the percentage by the time it took to arrive on campus (in hours). Record that number as percentage per hour.
12) Ride home and do homework
13) Repeat steps eight through 12 for one week.
14) Using the data that was collected, create a poster for this research project.

- Which learning type is best for children's learning in school. "The method that I was thinking was that we travel to Dorothy Fox Elementary or Prune Hill.
In order to test the children's ability to learn information they receive, we will give them 3 tests. These tests will be visual tests, auditory tests, and kinesthetic tests.
The visual test will consist of showing the children a picture with many objects in it, we will then take away the book and they will write down as much as they could about the picture.
The auditory test will consist of having children listen to 10 clicks of morse code. The children then must try and repeat the ten clicks back to us.
The kinesthetic test will consist of a box with an unknown object in it. The object will be 3D printed and then they must describe the object back to us without ever seeing the object.

- What type of sand is best for filtering water? Get a water filter and put a type of sand in it. Next, pour unfiltered and dirty water into it and examine the water that comes out of it with a microscope. Do this 3 times. Then, repeat the process with all of the other types of sands and record the data.

- How will using wind stalks instead of wind turbines affect energy gathered? "To conduct research, one would place the turbine and windstalk (independent variable) with
similar bird activity and wind speeds and activate them at the same(controlled variables). Have two individual high voltage batteries attached to each. One week later measure the energy gathered by the batteries and record(dependent variable). Empty batteries. Repeat previous research steps 4 more times for last trials."
|
- How will microbes affect how much CO2 is released by soils? To conduct my reserach, I will warm up two of the pots, keep one as a control, and then cool down the other two pots of soil. I will then use a CO2 Sensor to measure the amount of soil released through soil respiration over a period of four months. My independent variable is the termperature of the pot of soil. My dependent variable is how much CO2 is released into the air. My controlled variable is where the soil is from, and how much there is of it.

- What is the effect of excercise on a rat's long-term and short-term memory?"1. Gather Materials
2. Name rats
3. Prepare cages
4. Give all rats same amount of care, food, and attention
5. Put two in each cage
6. Build a short-term and long-term maze
7. Place one rat in the short term maze and record time it takes to complete it
8. Place the same rat in the long term maze and record time it takes to complete it
9. Repeat steps 7 and 8 with each rat
10. Give two of the rats 20 minutes of exercise, and the other two 40 minutes of exercise in hamster ball
11. Repeat steps 7-9 at the end of each week to track progress."

- Can I create a water mill in down spouts of houses that generate energy? "We will create minuratre water mills and place them in the downspouts of houses and hook them up to a battery. When it rains (we will simulate rain by slowy pouring water down the pipe) the whells will turn and generate energy that will be stored in a portable battery.
Independent variable is where the mills are placed in the pipe.
The dependent vairable is how much energy was generated.
The control will be the downsput and the batery space
|
- Can Location of a Water Mill in a Downspout Affect the Amount of Hyrdoelectricity Collected? In this experiment, we will create small plastic water mills, wire them to a portable battery charger and place the device in a downspout of water from gutter pipes that divert rainwater. The idea is to position one along these pipes to harness energy from the diverted water falling towards Earth. We will manipulate the location along the downspout that the mill is placed on, to see which position collects more hyrdoelectricity. We will keep the same device each time and simulate rainfall by slowly pouring a bucket of water into the gutter, as to keep it constant.

- Can the electrolytes from the sun take the salt out of water and create drinkable water?"1. Set up solar panel to transfer the electrodes to the water
2. Set up the desalination box and filter to hold and clean the contaminated water
-The independent variable will be the amount of water to be cleaned, and the filter-
3. Create salt water by mixing salt and water
4. Put 3 liters of salt water into the desalination box and wait one day
-The independent variable will be the different kinds of contaminated waters to be cleaned-
5. After one day, test to see if the water is cleaned
6. Repeat steps 1-5 for the other types of contaminated waters
7. Record information into a data table"

- Which gender generally loses more of their memory than the other? To conduct this experiment, we will need to visit a local elementary or middle school to test on a few different classrooms. We will bring different memorization tasks to the classrooms to test on their memory, and keep track of which gender completed the task with more efficiency than the other. This will not require very many materials, just access to students in a classroom. We will conduct the tests once every week or two and compile a big data list. We will make sure the females and males get the same time to do the same test.
