August 1st Workshop Sign Up

The following are the workshops that will be offered at the August 1st Professional Learning day at Hoppers Crossing Secondary College.

Please Choose a first and second preference for both Workshop 1 and Workshop 2.
There will be a maximum number of places in each workshop.
If you do not fill in your preferences you will be placed in workshops.

If you are attending the third Matt Kuhn Day you do not need to fill in this survey.

  1. JACPLUS e-Books - Workshop 1 A representative from Jacplus will go through some of the features of the e-books system and how to better engage students with content. NOTE: This workshop is aimed at staff that have not used Jacplus before or staff that may need a refresher of the features that it offers.


  1. Flipped Learning - Workshop 1 Aimee and Angela will introduce some of the programs that you can use to introduced flipped learning into your classroom. They will discuss some of the challenges and successes related to starting to use flipped learning and show some examples of what you can do.


  1. EDUSTAR - Math/Science Workshop 1 Kevin Daily will go thorough some of the great resources on EDUSTAR that you can use to enhance your Math and Science programs. He will introduce some of the features and will give you digital resources that you will be able to take away and use.


  1. Blogs and Forums - Workshop 1 In this workshop Leanne introduce how to begin to set up a Blog using Edublog, look at examples of educational blogs and how they can be used to enhance learning in your classroom.


  1. Review Tools in Word - Workshop1 Rod will go through some of the tools that you can use in word. This workshops aim is to improve your own use of word and to teach to students some of the timesaving tools that will make word easier to use.


  1. IWB - Workshop 1 John from JAK audio visual will present how to use your interactive white board. He will also show you how to use the Activinspire program and basic tools even if you don't have access to the IWB. Note: You will need to have the Activinspire program on your netbook. We have the program on the school server you will just need to down load to your computer please see Leanne or the Techs if you require assistance.


  1. Excel Basics - Workshop 1 In this workshop Christine and Claire will explain how to access class lists from Daymap and export to excel. They will then show you how to calculate averages and determine growth between common pre and post assessments. NOTE: You will need to bring your charged Laptop and results for at least one class that include pre and post assessments.


  1. EDUSTAR - English/Humanities - Workshop 2 Kevin Daily will go thorough some of the great resources on EDUSTAR that you can use to enhance your English and Humanities programs. He will introduce some of the features and will give you digital resources that you will be able to take away and use.

  1. Student Response Tools - Workshop 2 Leanne will go through how to use poll everywhere and other free student response tools. These are a great tools for giving students immediate feedback to their responses and they can discuss ideas immediately.

  1. 20 Minute Video Introductions - Workshop 2 Multimedia introductions are a great way to engage students in a topic. Research shows that you can get 5-6 weeks "engagement" in a topic if you start with a multimedia introduction. Learn to make quick multimedia presentations with Rod.
