Market Adjustment FAQs

As part of our continuous effort to meet your needs, we recently conducted a compensation market review to assess the competitiveness of our employees’ base pay. This is also in relation to the feedback you have given during the recently concluded employee engagement survey. Based on the results of the review and the survey, we decided to implement a market adjustment on the base pay which will impact employees who are earning below the compa ratio midpoint. We are in the process of drafting the notice of salary increase for employees who will receive the market adjustment. Below are the questions you might have for your reference.

  1. Q: What is a compa-ratio?
A: It is the salary of an employee as related to the market rate.

    Q: What is a midpoint?
A: It can represent the average salary offered in the industry of the same type of work performed.

Q: What is the new minimum base pay?
A: This information will be included in the letter that will be given to those who will receive a market adjustment.

Q: What are the criteria for receiving the market adjustment?
A: There are no criteria related to performance or tenure and an employee will receive the adjustment provided that he/she earns below the compa-ratio.

Q: How much will the adjustment be?
A: For probationary employees – it will be the difference between the current base pay and the midpoint in the compa-ratio. For regular employees, the difference between the mid point of the compa-ratio plus the Php 1,000 which is the amount given upon regularization will be the adjustment amount.

Q: My base pay is higher than the midpoint, will I receive an adjustment?
A: No, adjustment will only be given to employees earning below the midpoint.

Q: I have been with the company for a long time and a consistent top performer, why are you not giving me an adjustment?
A: The only criterion for the adjustment is the current base pay that is below the midpoint. Performance and tenure are not part of the consideration as these are factors considered during the annual performance review. If you are not eligible to receive market adjustment, it means that your current base pay is considered above the midpoint.

Q: When will I receive my adjustment in case I am eligible to receive the adjustment?
A: The letters will be distributed week of August 3rd and will be effective beginning August 24 cut off.
