A Perfect World? - The Giver Prereading
This is a survey to see what you think about the issues that will be brought up in the next book.
- I would be willing to make many sacrifices in order to have a society without unemployment and hunger.*
- I would like to live in a place where they knew the perfect job for each person based on what they enjoy, are good at, and their personality. The place would assign those jobs to people and then people would not have to suffer through hard decisions in high school and could be trained on the job instead of going to college.*
- All children should have equal possessions (laptops, cell phones, TV's, MP3 players) at a certain age, regardless of how rich or poor their family is.*
- There has been much talk around the world of overcrowding and the earth running out of space to live. Families should not be allowed to have more than two children.*
- If we could eliminate differences in people (like color of skin, mental disabilities, physical disabilities, etc.), there would be a lot less discrimination and people would get along better. I would like to live in a society like this.*
- It would be wonderful to live in a society where meals were automatically delivered to people's homes each night.*
- We should not have to carry bad memories in our heads. It would be much better if bad memories were forgotten.*
- There is no real need to learn about world and ancient history. *
- We would have a lot less problems in society if families would eat together at night and talk about issues such as problems, feelings, and other important issues.*
