  1. Over the last few years, we identified core writing assessments (process pieces) for each grade level. Please explain what you accomplished in regard to the core writing assessments for your grade level.

    • For example, have you implemented each writing task? If you have not implemented one or more of the writing tasks or encountered specific problems, please explain the problems and identify your needs.

    • If you changed the core assessment, please explain why and how.

  1. Did you give students an on-demand writing assessment this year? If so, please indicate how many and explain the assignment(s) and its/their purpose (skills assessed, formative, summative, etc.). If you did not give students an on-demand writing assessment this year, please explain why and identify your needs.


  1. Over the last two years or so, we identified core texts that are to be taught to all students in each grade level. List the core texts of your grade level and indicate whether or not you used the text to teach specific skills this year. If you did not use the text or changed a core text, please explain why. If you are considering changing a core text, please explain why and what other texts you are considering.


  1. Please explain how vocabulary is taught and assessed in your classroom (texts/resources, how words are chosen, strategies, assessments, frequency) and explain what is working/not working.


  1. We've not implemented any type of "District Writing Assessment" for a number of years in grades 6-12. Should we reinstitute the DWA or not? Why or why not?
