  1. How well do you understand MLA for the Works Cited page?
    1 = Micro. What's MLA? I don't know what you're talking about.
    2= Minor. I just realized we're supposed to use MLA but I haven't tried to use it much yet.
    3 = Light. I know I need to make a list of all my sources, but I just realized it's supposed to be an alphabetical list and not a numbered or bulleted list.
    4 = Moderate. I've made a few mistakes such as incomplete entries, but now I know where to get the info I need to do it right.
    5 = Strong. I'm so good other students ask me for help but I know I'm not really an expert.
    6 = Major. I got this mastered. I even know the basics for making an entry for photographs and other primary documents. I'm smart enough to know I need to double check my work with references such as Rules for Writers.
    7 = Great. I wrote the reference book, Rules for Writers. Let me teach the class this lesson next time. I am capable of tremendous feats!

  1. How well do you understand MLA for the In-text citations?
    1 = Micro. What's MLA? I don't know what you're talking about.
    2= Minor. I just realized we're supposed to use MLA but I haven't tried to use it much yet.
    3 = Light. I know I need to cite my sources as I use them in my paper, but so far I've just been copying quotations and pasting them into my paper and putting the author's name and maybe the page number in parentheses.
    4 = Moderate. I've made a few mistakes such as unclear boundaries between what I say and what my sources say, but now I know where to get the info I need to do it right.
    5 = Strong. I'm so good other students ask me for help but I know I'm not really an expert.
    6 = Major. I got this mastered. I often paraphrase and summarize my sources, using appropriate signal phrases. I even add the credentials of my sources where appropriate. I'm smart enough to know which references such as Rules for Writers can help me with the tricky citations such as two sources with the same last name or two different sources from the same author.
    7 = Great. I wrote the reference book, Rules for Writers. Let me teach the class this lesson next time. I am capable of tremendous feats!
