2016-17 Ag Course Offerings
The following survey will help decide which classes will be offered to you for next year.

|
- How Interested would you be in taking a class called: LEADERSHIP & PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
In this class you would learn important life skills such as how to properly prepare for a job interview and understand how to conduct a business meeting. In addition you would get to personally choose between a wide variety of individual or team Career Development Events with a chance to compete at the district, state or national level. This class would be offered during the Fall Semester *

- How Interested would you be in taking a class called: AG BUSINESS SALES & MARKETING
In this class you would learn how to work with other students to create and develop a marketing plan to sell a product or service using an actual local business. You would also gain and develop communication skills by learning how to sell a product or service to customers. You will also learn basic business skills that will be invaluable if you have ever dreamed of owing your own business.
This class will be offered as a year long course with the opportunity to compete in local, state & National Career Development Events. *

- How Interested would you be in taking a class called: WILDLIFE & FISHERIES
In this class you learn about hunting, fishing, & camping in South Dakota. Topics in this class include Archery, Dutch Oven Cooking, Animals of South Dakota, Firearm Safety. Some of the opportunities include competing in Archery tournaments, receiving you SD Hunt Safe Card, Cooking and going Ice Fishing. *

- How Interested would you be in taking a class called: AG METAL FABRICATION
In this class you will learn a variety of skills such as Cutting/Welding with Oxyfuels. MIG & TIG welding & Plasma Cutting. You will learn how to safely cut and weld metal together to create projects while gaining skills you can use to attain employment in a well paid career field during and after high school. *

- How Interested would you be in taking a class called: FUNDAMENTAL AG MECHANICS
If you have little or no knowledge of mechanics but want to learn more, this is a good common sense class to take. In this class you will learn some basic skills that you will use for the rest of your life. Everything from proper tool selection and use to how to wire a simple light switch. *

- How Interested would you be in taking a class called: FUNDAMENTAL AG STRUCTURES TECHNOLOGY
In this class you would learn the skills necessary to build ag structures such as pole buildings and garages. You would then take those skills and build an actual 10' x 20' storage shed. *

- How Interested would you be in taking a class called: FUNDAMENTAL ANIMAL SCIENCE
In this class you would learn about the various aspects of raising livestock such as cattle, sheep, pigs & horses. Activities would involve visiting a horse farm, incubating & hatching chicken eggs, learning about meat production and livestock evaluation. You will also have the opportunity to compete at the local, state & national level. This class would be offered for the Spring Semester. *

- How Interested would you be in taking a class called: COMPANION ANIMALS.
In this class you would learn about Cats, Dogs & other companion animals. Areas include breed identification, nutrition & health. *

- How Interested would you be in taking a class called: FOOD SCIENCE
In this class you will learn about food safety, marketing & various aspects of the food industry. Activities include creating different categories of food products. Areas also include meat selection, evaluation and preparation. Other valuable skills include seasoning, grilling & smoking different cuts of meats. *

- Would you be interested in taking a very basic Automotive Class that would give you some simple skills like how to: check oil & filters, check and fill tire pressure, change a flat tire. Other topics would include how to negotiate price and how to compare to determine if you are getting a deal on insurance. Basically teach you how to take care of your car.*
