Articles of Confederation and Constitution
The year is 1787 and you are a representative for a state in the newly independent United States of America. You will need to decide what you would like to see in a new government. Keep in mind the information you know about your state.

- Do you want to keep the Articles of Confederation? Why or Why not? Do you want to revise or throw them out entirely and start again? Why?
- Do you want a strong central government? Why? What powers should the central government have?
- Do you want a leader? If so, what kind of leader ? (describe his qualities). What do we call the leader? What if the leader gets too powerful? What powers should the leader have?
- Who should make laws? The leader or a separate group? Should there be a Congress- a group of representatives from each state?
- How will that number or representatives be determined? Should states with greater population get more representatives or should each state get the same number regardless of size?
- If you decided to have a Congress based on the population of states should women and children count as population even if though they probably won't be given the right to vote? What about slaves?
- Who would have the right to vote? Everyone? Even people who cannot read or write and may know nothing about politics? What if they vote for an evil leader?
