HF2392 Equipment Expectations of Community College Ag Instructors

Ag Ed/FFA instructors have two requests with reference to HF2392, and a perceieved lack of knowledge about Ag by its authors.

HF2392 eliminated use of state dollars for extended contract days for livestock, crops, fairs, etc.,
and requires the purchase of specific equipment which community college Ag instructor(s) want high school Ag instructors to have/use.

Many H.S. Ag Ed/FFA instructors have perceived that community college Ag instructors value SAE, FFA, and student involvement in fairs more than the speific skills needed to use specific equipment. Compared to other CTE areas, Ag has distinct, unqiue advantages to utilize their local farm resources. H.S. Ag Ed/FFA instructors have not desired specific equipment more than the time to work with students outside of the regular school-day/school-year.

  1. Please list specific equipment H.S. Ag Ed/FFA instructors should teach students to use...because the skills are more valuable to your program than involvement in SAE/FFA.
