    This article is a subcategory for the theory of intelligent life on other planets. Kaplan explains another theory The Fermi Paradox, for why we have not discovered life on other planets yet. It gives some insight as to why we may not have found intelligent life yet.

    Sarah Kaplan communicated with several scientist to understand their view of life in the universe. Geoffrey Marcy (an astronomer), Stephen Hawking (Scientist), and Frank Drake (Chairman for the extraterrestrial intelligence institute) all share the same belief that the universe has so much biology, there is no way Earth is the only planet with life.

    Paragraph four explains how they come up with “10,000 alien civilizations able to communicate with us.” It may sound absurd, but think about how big outer space really is and how many galaxies there are. In that same paragraph it is mentioned that there is million of planets that “bear liquid water.” So, the thought of aliens may not be all that crazy.
