The fourth Element of Art is FORM. Forms are three dimensional, they have length, width or height and DEPTH. Planes that move in position within space create a volume, or a body. A volume is a three-dimensional object or form. A form has length, width or height and depth and is in three-dimensions. Geometric forms have mathematical boundaries that describe the volume or body of the form. Organic forms are found in nature and are not manmade. Shapes become forms when you add depth. Circles become a Sphere. Ovals become a Cylinder. Squares become a Cube. Triangles become a Tetrahedron.
Mixed shapes also become forms when you add depth to create an object in three-dimensions. Rectangles and Squares become a Box or Rectangular Prism. Square and Triangles become a Pyramid.
