The sixth Element of Art is COLOR.

Color has many different levels to the theory to understanding and using color in your artwork.

1. Primary Colors are:
     A. Red 

     B. Yellow 

     C. Blue 


2. Secondary Colors are:
     A. Orange  

     B. Green  

     C. Violet  


3. Tertiary Colors are:
     A. Red-orange 

     B. Yellow-orange 

     C. Yellow-green 

     D. Blue-green  

     E. Blue-violet  

     F. Red-violet  


4. Complementary Colors are divided into pairs, which are:
     A. Red <-> Green 
 
     B. Yellow <-> Violet 
 
     C. Blue <-> Orange
 

5. Analogous Colors are from a primary color to a compound or tertiary color in the same hue.
     A. RED to Red-Orange to Orange to Yellow-Orange.



     B. YELLOW to Yellow-Green to Green to Blue-Green.



     C. BLUE to Blue-Violet to Violet to Red-Violet.



6. Monochromatic (One - Color) Color Scheme:
     A. Color or HUE is simply the name of the color and the variations within that color.
     B. Mix that color with white to create a TINT.

     C. Mix that color with grey to create a TONE. 

     D. Mix that color with black to create a SHADE.

     E. The VALUE is the lightness or the darkness of the hue.
     F. The INTENSITY is the brightness or the dullness of a hue.

7. Warm Colors are:
     A. Red      
     B. Yellow  
     C. Orange   
     D.  Black 


8. Cool Colors are:
     A. Blue 
     B. Green 
     C. Violet 
     D. White 


9. Neutral Colors are: White, Gray and Black.
     A. White. 

     B. Gray. 

     C. Black.


10. Mixing Colors
     A. Mixing two Primary Colors create SECONDARY Colors.
     B. Mixing a Primary Colors with a Secondary Colors create TERTIARY or COMPOUND Colors.
     C. Mixing two Complementary Colors create NEUTRAL Colors.
     D. Monochromatic Color Scheme is the full variation of one hue.
