Commutative PropertyThe order of the two numbers involved does NOT affect the value. This property only applies to two operations: addition and multiplication.
Associative PropertyThe grouping of two or more numbers does not affect the value. ONly Applies to two operations: addition and multiplication.
Distributive PropertyInvolves distributing the number outside of a parenthesis to each number on the inside of parenthesis.
Identity Property of AdditionAny number plus zero equals the original number.
Identity Property of MultiplicationAny number times one equals the original number.
Additive InverseA number added to another number to equal zero. Ex. -9 and 9 are additive inverses.
Multiplicative InverseA number multiplied by another number to equal one. This is usually called the reciprical. For ex. 4 and 1/4 are reciprocals.
