GERMAN/ das Datum (the date), der Geburtstag (the birthday)
How to say the date or when is your birthday in German. You will find in brackets a translation word for word of the German expression. For example, remember Germans say, 'on the Monday', not 'on Monday'; or 'in the January', not 'in January'. Also remember that Germans use the accusative for the date: 'Montag, den vierten Januar', not 'Montag, der vierte Januar'. It will be written, 'Montag, den 2. Januar', the '.' being for 'st' in English.
