Properties of Addition and Multiplication
Commutative Property of Addition-Changing the order of two addends does not change thier sum. a+b=b+a Associative Property of Addition-Changing the grouping of three addends does not change thier sum. (a+b)+c=a+(b+c) Identity Property of Addition-The sum of any number and zero is the original number. a+0=0 and 0+a=a Commutative Property of Multiplication-Changing the order of two factors does not change their product. a*b=b*a Associative Property of Multiplication-Changing the grouping of three factors does not change thier product. (a*b)*c=a*(b*c) Identity Property of Multiplication-the product of any number and one is that number. a*1=a and 1*a=a Distributive Property-For all numbers a, b, and c, a(b+c)=(a*b)+(a*c) a(b-c)=(a*b)-(a*c)
