Desktop PublishingThe process of using a computer to create a layout for printed materials.
LayoutThe organization of print and graphics on a page.
PixelA small point on a picture display; one "dot" on the screen
GraphicsGraphs, charts, pictures, photos, or drawings created by a computer in digital format.
Clip ArtPrepared graphic images that can be copied onto a document or a graphic.
Paint ProgramA software program that allows the user to control pixels on the computer screen to produce graphics or clip art.

PointsA basic unito measuring type. 72 points equal an inch
Principles of DesignBalance, harmony, contrast, dominant element, white space, consistency, repetiton, alignment, and proximity in a document.
OrphansFirst line of a paragraph that falls at the bottom of the previous column.
ProofsA representation matching the appearance of the printed piece.
San SerifType without a stroke at the end of the letter form.
SerifType with strokes at the end of the letter form based upon Roman style lettering.
DashesN dashes used between two numbers indicating a range 1 - 2. M dashes are used grammatically to show a pause. See EM and EN spaces.
GrayscaleAn image consisting only of gray tones, such as a black and white photograph.
CSSCascading Style lsheets,used to format text.
Runaround (Text Wrap)Text that wraps itself (flows) around an object.
