footnote | A citation in a document placed at the bottom of the page in the document on which the citation is located. A footnote is formatted as single spaced with hanging indent and double spaced between each footnote according to the MLA guidelines. |
header | Content that appears on the top of the page. |
hyperlink | A block of text or a graphic that when mouse-clicked takes the user to a new location to an internal or external page. |
hyper text transfer protocol (http) | How data is transferred through the servers. |
MLA style | A standardization of guidelines used by colleges and universities for research papers. |
plagiarism | Illegal use of someone’s work. |
source | Where you acquire the information. A source can come from a book, Web, interview, etc. |
tab leader | The symbols that appear in a table of contents between a topic and the corresponding page number. |
table of contents | An ordered list of the topics in a document, along with the page numbers on which they are found. Usually located at the beginning of a long document. |
