| Cascade | A command for displaying windows or menus so that one overlaps, but does not hide the other(s). |
| Cascading menu | A sub-menu that extends from a command on another menu. |
| CD ROM | Compound Disc Read-Only Memory. A medium for carrying data and programs which cna be read but not written over. |
| Character | A single letter, number, or sumobol (including a "space" and a "tab". |
| Character set | The 255 letters, numbers, symbols are available for use by personal computers and printers, although values above 127 are not standardized amoung all manufacturers. |

| Close Button | Icon containing an "X" located at the riht end of the Title Bar. It is used to close the application. |
| Command | An instruction which controls the activity of an computer system, normally entered by the user through keyboard or mouse. |
| Control Menu | IN application windows, allows Restore, Move, Size, Minimize/Maximize, Close and Switch To other applicaitons. |
| Control Menu Icon | Located at the left end of a window's Title Bar, clicking on it opens it |
| Copy | A frequently used operation to dupliate text, data, or a file without disturbing the original. |
| Cut | An editing operation which removes selected text from the typing screen. |
