Vol.II, Lesson 4: Verb Dictionary-Forms Study the following rules first, and then play the games provided below. Rules for Dictionary-Forms: Vowel Verbs: (1) When the verb has '-e' before 'masu' --- change 'masu' to 'ru'; for example, tabEmasu --- tabEru (2) When the verb has '-i' but one syllable before 'masu' --- change 'masu' to 'ru'; for example, mImasu --- mIru Consonant Verbs (1) All masu forms have 'Consonant/No consonant + i' before 'masu' --- Drop 'masu' and change 'i' to 'u'. For example; kaimasu ---> kau kakimasu ---> kaku hanashimasu ---> hanasu momimasu ---> momu
