Planes and Body Motions
This exercise provides a practice session to identify the specific plane and axis in which a body motion occurs in the cervical and upper extremity of the body. Three basic planes and axises will be used: the frontal plane with the A-P axis, the saggital plane with the L-H axis and the transverse plane with the longitudinal axis.
|
| A | B |
| cervical flexion | saggital, L-H axis |
| cervical lateral flexion | frontal, A-P axis |
| cervical rotation | transverse, long |
| shoulder flexion | saggital, L-H axis |
| shoulder abduction | frontal, A-P axis |
| shoulder external rotation | transverse, long |
| shoulder internal rotation | transverse, long |
| elbonw flexion | saggital, L-H axis |
| forearm pronation | transverse, long |
| forearm supination | transverse, long |
| wrist flexion | saggital, L-H axis |
| wrist extension | saggital, L-H axis |
| wrist ulnar deviation | frontal, A-P axis |
| wrist radial deviation | frontal, A-P axis |
| finger flexion | saggital, L-H axis |
| finger abduction | frontal, A-P axis |
| shoulder extension | saggital, L-H axis |
| CMC flexion of the thumb | frontal, A-P axis |
