I will use your essays and conversations as a Chapter assessment, so if you come to school on MOnday without BOTH ASSIGNMENTS you will have to take an alternate test.

French IV- Study for the test tomorrow on Unité 2 of Discovering French Rouge. You must know the material on the following pages: 78-81 and 86-91. Also, on the handout which I gave you about the expressions which do and do not take the subjunctive, know the expressions of CERTAINTY which take the INDICATIVE. Also remember, that when these expressions of certainty are in the interrogative or negative, they then must be followed by verbs in the subjunctive.

FRENCH IV: Your grades are posted for the subjunctive quiz. Not pretty. You should study the expressions that take the subjunctive on pages 78 to 89 of Discovering French Rouge. You also need to know the expressions of certainty that take the indicative.
For homework, you are going to make a collage using ALL the vocabulary on pages 90 and 91 of the text, labeling the terms.
In addition, make sure you can recite, by heart, your 12 sentence speech using the subjunctive. Use the extra time this weekend to make sure your sentence structure is correct. Don't want to see any tu dois faut que's

FR IV- Etudiez pour l' interro que vous passerez demain. ATTENTION! Pour les élèves de la quatrième année, il faut que vous sachiez tout ce vous avez appris dans votre texte- jusqu'à la page 89. Ca veut dire, savez:
1. les expressions de certitude avec lesquelles on ne doit pas employer le subjonctif
Je suis certain(e) que, Je suis sûr(e) que, Je suis convaincu(e) que, Je pense que, Je crois que, Je ne doute pas que, etc....
2. Si on met ces expressions qui expriment la certitude aux formes négatives ou interrogatives, ou si on emploie DOUTER à la forme affirmative, MAINTENANT on doit employer le subjontif.
Si vous avez encore des difficultés avec tout ça, passez le QUIZ- The SUBJUNCTIVE, in the QUIA activities below.
You will not have to know the stuff from the packet- EXCEPT FOR THE RULES ABOUT WHEN TO USE THE PAST OR PRESENT SUBJUNCTIVE-- AND, now this next part is from the Red Book-- the expressions of obligation, expressions of opinion and and the expressions like VOULOIR QUE that are listed on page 88.
If you have done the online exercises that I gave you in the language lab on Wednesday, for Discovering French Rouge, you should be good to go.
Also, again, know how to form the present and past subjunctive, when to use them, and the irregular subjunctives ALLER, ETRE, AVOIR and FAIRE. Yeah, that should do it. :o)
Oh, and don't forget your 12 sentence speech, or your part of a 24 line dialogue, in which you use the subjunctive, or expressions of certainty that DON'T take the subjunctive. You must MEMORIZE this speech or your part of the dialogue to present orally. This will help you IMMENSELY to remember what you are learning. Donnez-moi vos remerciements plus tard----

FR IV- Discovering French Rouge, Act 2, p. 86. Act. 4, p. 87. With Activity 2, you will make two sentences, both beginning with IL FAUT QUE, and both with subjunctive verbs in the subordinate clause. In other words:
EX: Je vais maigrir. ( aller au gymnase/ boire plus d'eau)
Il faut que j'aille au gymnase. Il faut que je boive plus d'eau.
THe pronoun that you will use in your answer will be the pronouns from the first sentence, as in the above example.
For activity 4, you will be navigating away from IL FAUT que, and muddying the waters with impersonal expressions of OPINION when they refer to specific people
Therefore, for these sentences, you will use the expressions of opinion from the yellow table in the middle of page 87. Make sure you use all of them!
Si tu n'ai pas encore completé ce qu'on a commencé en classe aujourd'hui, il faut completer les phrases de l' activité 1 à la page 79, et puis, completez l' activité 6 à la page 81.
