1.Journal prompt 5-10 minutes free write: For 5 years, Webster’s Dictionary included an entry for the word “dord.” Dord, however, is not an actual word. (Even dictionary makers make mistakes!) Invent your own definition of “dord” and write a short paragraph using your newly-defined word.
2.Discuss definitions of word “dord”
3.Explain computer usage rules (no food, etc, always use the same one, no internet)

2.We will discuss diction and syntax as key elements of the article.
3.We will complete the following free-write: Think about an individual you admire or dislike. Your subject can be someone you know personally or someone you have only read or heard about such as an entertainer, a politician, or even a historical figure. Make a list of as many concrete, specific, and vivid details as you can to describe this individual's personality or character.
Homework: Answer the "Thinking Critically" questions on page 186 in the Reader for College Writers.
