Have a GREAT summer!

Welcome to PooleSpace! Mrs. Poole's web site for
Grade 6 Science and Grade 7 Life Science
at Brookland Middle School.

Preview Grade 8 Physical Science.

A note to my students

I want to thank each of you for a wonderful year in 6th grade Science and 7th grade Life Science. It has been amazing to watch each of you mature this year. You have learned so much! And ALL of you have shown that you have indeed learned much. I know you have a good jump on science for years to come. I am looking forward to hearing how you did on the Henrico Assessment Test.

Summer is a great time for learning about science. Enjoy the parks, mountains and beaches. Reach deeper to find out more about places you explore. On long hot summer days, when the pool has gotten boring, spend a little time on science. Remember there are lots of great science links on PoolesSpace! Not to mention those Quia activities that you can practice to keep what you have learned fresh in your mind. Continue to challenge your mind and visit the links from this web site as long as it is available. And check out some good books at the library! I just read "The Bean Tree" and "The Outsiders" (two thumbs up) and will be reading "The Gospel According to Larry" in the coming weeks.

It is August and it's hot outside! Summer break is more than half gone. While football teams are gearing up, the days are getting shorter and crisp fall air will be here before we know it. Remember to hydrate when heading to sports or band practice.

I will not be returning to greet you on the Brookland campus this fall, but truly wish each of you an outstanding 2007-2008 school year.

You are wonderful young people and I wish you great success in the future.

The Conservation Pledge

I give my pledge as an American
to save and faithfully to defend from waste
the natural resources of my country:
its air, soil and minerals,
its forests, waters and wildlife.

This pledge was written by writer Ben East after a meeting of conservationists in 1937 that led to the formation of the Michigan United Conservation Clubs. It seems very fitting as we focus on our study during the second half of the year in science.
PooleSpace is better than MySpace!
A lot safer!
With loads of great links to Science web sites and Quia activities!

Please explore its contents and return frequently.

If you are a student in my class or a parent of my student, please
e-mail me to assist in building a contact list. Be sure to include your name, your student's name, and your student's grade level.

Whether focusing on the world around us in 6th grade
or the living things in our world in 7th grade,
science is fascinating! We’ll have fun learning great things!
