Dear parents: I am excited for this new year 2016-2017 the Turner Middle School! Turner encourages students to become lifelong, global learners and leaders, as well as one that holds teachers, students, and parents accountable for fostering high academic and social standards for all students. The Spanish class will be in complete immersion once the learners understand commands in Spanish.
To introduce myself, I am excited to have the opportunity to entrust my love of languages and specifically Spanish to the students at Turner Middle School. Languages have been a love of mine for a while, as I have studied Spanish as well as Greek, French and Italian. I am not only hoping to aid in developing a passion for languages in the students, but also, I am seeking to give them the necessary tools to be successful in Spanish at the college level and in life.
A little about my teaching style: I am firm, but fair. I try to give students an opportunity on Facetime or Skype I give tutoring after 6:00 p.m. Please, tell student to call me if he or she needs extra help. Please, read the syllabus regarding late work.
I like to implement fun interactive games, but also require that students know when to stop talking to one another and to focus on new important material. In addition, the student will normally have Spanish homework review every night, as I try to reserve class time for speaking and lecture activities that normally cannot be done at home. PRACTICE ENSURES LEARNING THE MATERIAL. However, the time that it takes to do it is normally less than 15 minutes every night in the platform is imperative.
Real world connections homework will be given to be practiced on weekends, please read the syllabus online and sign the form attached to it and send it to me. If you need a hard copy let me know. If the student don’t have internet please let me know me.
Lastly, I believe that close communication with parents/guardians throughout the year is very important. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me. I will reply to your message within 24 hours. Use the links above to read my website, procedures in the classroom and expectations. I send home a syllabus, please read carefully, sign and send it back to me.
Sincerely,
Profesora Magdalena Martínez, M.A.TSL Spanish Gifted/Honors/ ESOL/Dual Language Program TMS
