Reading & Vocabulary - New Password I - Chapter 1, Reading

1	Mayda Saldana is from Mexico.  Now she is a college student in the United States.  Every day, she goes to her classes.  For one class, she does not have papers or books.  This class is not in a classroom.  It is in a pool.  It is a swimming class.
2	Mayda's class is for beginners.  Swimming is new for them.  Mayda is afraid of the water.  The class is not easy for her.  She says, "It's easy for children to learn new things.  But I'm not young!"
3	Mayda's sister can swim, and Mayda's friends can swim.  She wants to go swimming with them.  She does not like feeling afraid.  She goes to class because she wants to learn.  She practices swimming in class.  She gets extra time in the pool on weekends.

Now Mayda says, "I'm not very good, but I'm learning, little by little. The pool is OK now.  I'm not afraid of the pool.  But the ocean?  Oh no, I'm not ready for that.  There are things like sharks in the ocean!"
