College-Career Skill #2 - Utilizing Context Clues: Connotation & Denotation

When you come across a word that is unfamiliar to you, one trick you can use is Connotation/Denotation.

Connotation: The emotional connection or feeling you get from a word.
As you read each of the three word pairs, ask yourself: Does ?? have a positive or negative connotation?
Good Luck!
