Stock advice to writers is that, all things being equal, it's better to write in ACTIVE VOICE. Well, that's probably not bad advice, but the truth is that all things are not always equal. There's nothing wrong with PASSIVE VOICE if it's the best tool for the occasion. One thing is for certain, though -- it's important that the difference be recognized by you!
