Rags to Riches: Answer questions in a quest for fame and fortune.

4th Grade Reading Comprehension (Set 3) - The Top of the Hill

_____The children gathered at the top of the hill. They stood in small groups, whispering quietly and watching Kurt. Would he really try to ride his bike down the hill? Two years ago an older boy had tried, but he flipped his bike and broke both his legs. The hill was much too steep to ride down. It was covered with large rocks and clumps of bushes that were difficult to miss with a bike. Why was Kurt even thinking of doing such a stupid thing? The children shook their heads and gathered closer as Kurt flung his leg over the seat and mounted his bike. He did not seem to hear as a few boys told him not to do it. Kurt rode his bike over to the edge and stopped. He looked down the hill, planning where he would go. He put one foot on the pedal and was ready to go. “Wait!” Someone shouted.
