This book is about a boy named Gemm who lives in the 2407. He has these dreams of music, but in the future music is not aloud. Though Gemm tries to hide these dreams, but they keep coming back. As the “Elders” find him becoming more and more out of control they give him a choice. He must choose to be recycled or must choose something they call “The Cure.” “The Cure” takes Gemm back to the year 1348. His name is Johannes in Strasbourg, Germany. It is when Jews were being blamed for a pestilence sweeping the country. It was a time of hatred and horror. The question is will Gemm conform to his society now, or will he keep fighting for his rights?
