Where the Red Fern Grows is a classic realistic fiction novel written by Wilson Rawls. It is a tale of a young boy named Billy Coleman, who lived near the Ozarks by a river, had always wanted hunting dogs, but his family couldn’t afford them. He worked exceedingly hard for 2 years and finally got the money he needed to buy two redbone hound pups. Billy traveled to a town very far from his home just to pick them up, and eventually decided to name them Old Dan and Little Ann. He brought them home and trained them in every way he knew he could. This is the story of how these dogs went on to become famous, and how they would eventually give everything they had to save their master. This book is recommended to readers who enjoy adventure, suspense, and dogs. However, this book is not recommended to readers who dislike sad books or unhappy endings. This enthralling story is sure to delight many readers for years to come.
