Find the antecedent
An antecedent is a word, phrase, or clause that comes before a pronoun. The pronoun then refers to this antecedent. Examples: Word--Johnny is a good friend. He compliments people. The pronoun he refers to the antecedent "Johnny." Phrase: John spent all night making pasta. It tired him out. The pronoun it refers to the antecedent "making pasta." In the following game, you will be asked to identify the antecedent.
