 This web site is designed to be a supplemental support tool for AP economics students , not a replacement for being in class. The site contains access to course information , study guides , presentations , required readings , and study tools . Please review the requirements , procedures , and recommendations below :
1. It is recommended that students review the course perspective / overview , national and state economic academic standards , as well as the class rules and policies via the syllabus . Click on the links below under " course resources " to view the PDF files .
2. Use this site for study schedule planning by reviewing the calendar events section below . The upcoming events for the week are listed in the calendar events section . For longer term planning , and to view events on a monthly basis , click on the " view calendar " icon in the web site title bar at the upper left corner of this web site .
3. It is strongly recommeded that students take advantage of the pre - packaged chapter study guides for this course . These study guides can found below in the " chapter study guides " section of this website . Click on the link to open and print the document .
4. Students can verify information on chapter study guides and prepare for chapter and critical thinking exams in three ways ( the use of all three is very strongly recommended ) . The first is by playing Economic Jeopardy ( see the " Quia Activities And Quizzes " section below where they are listed as " Challenge Board " games ) . This activity is a valuable study tool that will be posted at least 48 hours prior to the chapter exam they are related to .
You need to sign in to play the jeopardy game the same way you sign in to take a chapter exam . Your " user name " is ( without a space between them ) , your proper / formal first name , followed by your last name , followed by the number 871 . Your password is your Lighthouse CPA student ID number . One very important thing to remember is that if you do not sign in to play the game , then you can not prove that you used this very valuable study tool .
A second way is to review short videos to reinforce your understanding of important concepts presented in class . Links to these videos are listed by chapter and topic on the videos and publications page . See the link to the video and publications page below in the " Tanstaafl Cafe " section of this website .
The third way is to visit the class blog ( LIGHTHOUSE CPA AP ECONOMICS http://lighthousecpaapeconomics.blogspot.com/) on a regular basis ( at least twice a week is recommended ) and engage in the sharing of ideas about the topics that will be presented . Topics will be presented in three forms ; 1 - current event articles , videos , and audio podcasts , 2 - essays on economic concepts , theories , and philosophies , and 3 - practice AP Free Response type questions related to the chapter the class is studying . These practice AP Free Response type questions will be very similar to the questions students will see on each chapter's critical thinking exam .
5. Students can prepare for semester final exams , the AP Macro - Economics practice exams , the real AP Macro Economics Exam, by using four tools ; 1 - chapter study guides , 2 - the Economic Jeopardy study tools ( they will remain posted to the website for the entire year ) , and 3 - chapter PowerPoint presentations ( in PDF format ) that will be posted under the " chapter PowerPoint presentations links " section of this website two weeks after each chapter exam date .
