Welcome back to Term 4!
Students who missed registration due to absences will need to check with their counselor after spring break to schedule a time to register for next school year's courses...
We will complete Chapter 11 by learning how to calculate moles of a gas whether conditions are STP or not.
Next we will begin Chapter 4 to study electron structure in the quantum model of an atom. Students will learn orbital notation, electron configuration, and Lewis electron dot notation.
Assignments
Chapter 4 Electrons Unit
Review chapter 11 section 3 ideal gas law and standard molar volume to complete problems 41 and 51 on page 392.
Read Chapter 4 Section 1 to complete reading guides on light properties and line emission spectra of elements and the Bohr atomic model.
Draw Bohr models of elements 1-18 to prepare for quiz.
Read Chapter 4 Section 2 to define and describe the 4 quantum numbers and the 4 sublevels of orbitals.
Draw examples of one s, three p, five d, and one f orbital on axes on graph paper.
Read Chapter 4 Section 3 on orbital notation.
Write the orbital notation of electron structure for the first 18 elements.
Complete periodic table of electron configurations
