  • You will notice on the concept map that ATP has a little explosion in the background. It is often depicted this way because ATP is associated with energy. But after thinking about it, I came to the conclusion that a better way to depict ATP would be as a charged battery because energy is being stored in the molecule, not released. When ATP breaks down to ADP, that is when the energy is released.
