In-Class Quiz |
Tuesday, July 11th |
To prepare for this quiz, you should:- Complete the Unit 3 Questions given out in class on Friday. Hand those in on Monday and I will run them through the scantron reader and give them back to you.
- Complete the two Quia online quizzes. The links to those quizzes are in the Quiz Section below.
- Read Chapter 9 and the indicated parts of Chapter 10
- Read and annotate the notes given out in class.
Stop worrying about the numbers that get recorded. Demonstrate that you are trying to get a grip on the material - a lot of material - a short period of time.I will post 'numbers' in the classroom as regularly as possible. Those are NOT your Report Card mark. They are simply one factor that I take into consideration. What I see going on in class, the questions that you ask, the manner in which you approach the material is much more important. |

Readings |
Monday, July10th and Ongoing |
As a minimum you need to read:- Student Workbook - Chapter 1
- Counterpoints Chapter 9 (All of it) and Chapter 10 (Pages 322-334)
There are additional readings listed in the Useful Links section below and multiple sources on specific topics online. |
| Quia Quiz No. "8" |
Practice Quiz - See Below under My Quia activities and quizzes- You will be given your Username and Password for the Quia Quizzes on Thursday.
| Friday, July 7th |
Note:- When you are required to complete a quiz by a specific date, this means that it needs to be completed by 3 am on the indicated date.
- This is the only quiz for which you need to submit a screenshot of your Results Page unless you have completed an online quiz late and wish to attempt to receive some marks.
- If a quiz is completed late, you will need to email me a screenshot of the Results Page from the Student Zone on the Quia site. There will normally be a 5 mark or 10% penalty for competing an online quiz late to recognize the additional time that you had for preparation, the need to reopen the marking system to accommodate your choice, and to avoid the encouragement of sloppy behaviour.
- Regardless of any penalty that may be applied, you cannot receive an 'A' grade for an assignment that is completed late.
- The primary purpose of this FIRST quiz is to provide an opportunity for you to test your Username and Password.
- The questions on this quiz are based on information that you will need to know as the course progresses.
- At this time, you only need to obtain one mark (one correct answer) to receive full marks for the quiz.
- Check the sheet on online quiz instructions if you are unsure how to access the quiz. Email me if you are stuck.
- Generally, online quizzes will not be listed in the assignment section. It is your responsibility to check regularly for open quizzes and due dates.
- The questions in this quiz involve material that we have not covered but for which you will be responsible. You should learn the answers to all of questions with which you are unfamiliar.
Note:YOUR RESULTS FOR THIS QUIZ ONLY (in addition to your results if you complete a quiz late in the future) need to be emailed to me in the form of a screen shot of your results page (NOT your quiz answer page) from the Student Zone on the Quia site. |
